Ideas Made Real Founder-Director Laynie Tzena is a published writer and experienced editor, and has been helping people with a wide range of writing needs for over 20 years. Her MFA is in writing, and she spent happy years on the editorial staff of a scholarly journal, handling everything up to final printing.
One of Laynie’s first writing projects, many years ago, was a patent proposal. But her favorite editing project, bar none, was a paper for a physics professor to deliver at a conference. We’ll let Laynie tell that story.
I still plan to study three things I didn’t get around to in school–chemistry, calculus, and physics–but when the good professor came to me I had yet to study the subject. Still, we were both game (and the conference was rapidly approaching) and so I read through the paper, corrected some obvious errors, and came to a screeching halt in front of a sentence I could not fathom. Deep breath. I finally changed the sentence into a mathematical equation, retooled it, and completed my work on the paper. The professor was delighted, and told me she was very well-received.”
